Step 1: Use a Picture with a Visible Road Path
The first step is to get nice photograph for the roadmap slide background. There are several good image stock websites you can check:
- dreamstime.com (paid)
- iStock.com (paid)
- stock.Adobe.com (paid)
- 123rf.com (free)
- Pixabay.com (free)
For this roadmap, our designers used a highway with mountains in the background. With such an image, it is possible to place there as many steps as needed and nothing is distracting attention:

Step 2: Replace Roadmap Milestones Bullets with Text in Semitransparent Shapes
Semitransparent shapes will make the text visible and will not spoil the picture from the design point of view:
To create such shapes in PowerPoint, create a text box, go to its properties setting and there you can adjust the transparency level. We recommend 20-30% transparency to keep text visible.
Step 3: Add Final Touch – Lines & Icons of Your Milestones
Don’t leave your slide on the previous step, you can add some design elements and it will look more professional. Thin lines and flat PPT icons were used while creating this roadmap slide:
